Happy 4th of July

Bang! Bang! I got you!

Yes, it’s the merriest of all American holidays- the 4th of July! Time to BBQ in the backyard, and get your bathing suits ready! I’m hoping San Jose will show Johnny one heck of a time for this patriotic holiday. There are already fireworks going off in the neighborhood, which is a good sign.

As we celebrate, it’s important to look back and reflect on how we got here. It all started in a faraway land, Eng-land to be exact. It is in fact the country where my husband spent most of his life. Yes, a fine country, but for some reason a lot of people wanted to leave. I think it was so that they could have fireworks and make lots of noise, and occasionally display their emotions freely- so the story goes. After many years, we can now do these things here in the United States of America. There are 50 glorious states which share in this yearly celebration. My country ’tis of thee, sweet land of liberty, of thee I sing.
