Ironman Comes to Town!

Uncategorized 2 Comments

The Ironman event has arrived in Kona!

Every year, downtown Kona transforms into a bustling sporting event. The Ironman World Championship is held here each October, and Kona becomes a whole new place! The streets are full of athletes and spectators, booths and tents are set up for different athletic companies, stores are full of people buying Hawaii souvenirs. It’s an amazing transformation.

Each time Ironman comes to town we get to volunteer and help out with stuff behind the scenes. The U of N offers about 400 volunteers ore more each year! It’s an incredible opportunity, and we love being a part of it.

Aloooooooha! What will you two be doing as volunteers for this year’s Ironman? How are you both feeling – are you 100% again yet? Jenni – I loved the details you provided on all the DTS’s. Thanks! We need to schedule a time to Skype soon. I miss seeing your faces and hearing your voices. Please let me know when that can happen! Hi to you two. Jenni , remembering the 2006 Iron Man when we were there. Wondering what you did to volunteer for it this time. I know you both were not feeling well, hope you are better. Ken & I cannot seem to shake what ever it is we have. I went to the Dr. to make sure I did not have Pneumonia and the only thing on the blood test that was too high was allergies. The chest x-ray was O.K. So happy for that. But we both are still coughing and feeling crummy. Guess what, it snowed 3 inches here in Iowa on Sat. the 10th. It is all gone now. It sure was pretty. Better close. Hope to hear what you did at the Iron Man. Love ya both. Grandma
